OTV & Spanning Tree

Hello Experts!

I was hopeful we could get some help on this question:

The data centers are interconnected with OTV over a DCI. There are VLAN’s that exist at both DC1 and DC2, and at the hospitals (wireless is one example). There is a concern that OTV will cause a L2 loop and STP will not be aware of the connection in the other DC, thus causing switching problems and broadcast storms. The concern is that the Layer 2 traffic will pass between the sites and could go over the OTV link as well if a single VLAN is shared at DC1, DC2, and at the hospital in question.

We’re trying to understand if this is supported as a configuration.  Please see the attached diagram.

Thank you!

Hi stbrewer

Did you ever find an answer to your issue? I am actually quite interested in what you learned.

STP issue is caused if there a loop in the network. If there is only one DCI link and OTV is configured over it, I dont see any loop issue.
