IP phones getting IP address from PC VLANs.

Hi,

We have several VLANs in our core switch 6506E and have QIP (DNS + DHCP) Server

• PC VLAN
• Server VLAN
• ILO VLAN
• IP phone VLAN
• Printer VLAN

CDP is enable We want to restrict the IP phone, to get the IP address only from Voice VLAN not for other VLAN.

If voice VLAN is not configured on the Port, IP phone get the IP address from PC vlan & working fine.

In access switch we have 2960S, 2960X.

Need support to solve this.

Hi,

Many thanks your reply & I enabled "macro auto global processing" in one Switch & did not see any change it's same. Phone is communicating from PC VLAN.

Hi Navneet,

If this is still outstanding here are some thoughts that came to mind.  You need to create a voice vlan on the switch and leverage the "switchport voice vlan ##" command.  The default gateway of the voice vlan should have an ip-helper statement pointing it to the correct dhcp server.  The DHCP server should have option 150 set pointing the phones to where their configuration files live.
