Disabled Chat Globally - Icon Disappeared - Reinstate individually?

Hello, I´ve disabled the Messaging and Presence features for our Jabber Clients, expecting, that past Chat Messages will be still accessible. This seems to be not the Case, since the Chat Icon in Jabber disappeared - I am sure this is just a GUI Setting since the Chat DB still seems to exist.

I would like to have a workaround for Users who want to retrieve important Chats etc. But don´t necessarily want to enable all services in the "Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence" again - which is where I disabled it using some of the hints from here.

Any ideas how to enable the chat Icon with a local config or similar, to allow users short time access?

I would leave the chat enabled globally, and just use different service profiles in CUCM for the users.
One with IMP-Nodes assigend, and one without. Then you can assign the service profiles to which ever users needs chat or not.
