Explanation to check the system reports: navagation -> Cisco Unified Reporting click on system reports a side pane appears from the side pane choose " unified CM phone Feature List" in the features there are 2 different features one called Record and the other called BIB (built in bridge). in the Cisco documentation for recording.it is said that in order to be able to use SIP Trunk to record for a phone we need this phone to support the BIB feature in order to fork the stream and froward one to the recorder. after checking the list of phones supported by the CM we found two features BIB and record. and the list of supported phones in each one is different. what do we need in order to be able to record for a phone, support for record of for BIB or both and what is the difference between both features???
Subject: RE: BIB and Record difference Replied by: Abdul Rasheed on 21-01-2011 12:20:11 AM Hi, I didnt understand your query completely. But BIB is a the resource available in each IP phone which will duplicate media stream upon instruction from CUCM. Whenever a call lands on an IP phone, the Third party recorder application will get SIP recording request from call manager and based on this request, recorder also will negotiate through SIP trunk and once this negotiation is successful , Media stream will be duplicated and send to Recorder IP through BIB. I Hope it gives you some idea. Thanksa and Regards Rasheed
