Introduction

This document discusses how to monitor Voice mail call flow using Cisco Unified Real-Time Monitoring Tool with the configuration procedure.

About RTMT and Voice mail call flow monitoring

The Cisco Unified Real-Time Monitoring Tool (RTMT), which runs as a client-side application, uses HTTPS and TCP to monitor system performance, device status, device discovery, CTI applications, and voice messaging ports. RTMT can connect directly to devices via HTTPS to troubleshoot system problems. RTMT can be downloaded and run on your PC. This application is useful to examine the call routing now.

Download and Install the RTMT. The version of RTMT used needs to match the version of the server you are connecting to. To download the software, on the Cisco Unity Connection Administration page, navigate down to System Settings > Plugins. Click the Find button if no plugins are listed.Make sure to download the correct version of RTMT for your OS (Linus/Windows) and run the installer.

In CUCM, the RTMT is found in the Application > Plugins menu, along with many other tools useful for CUCM.

Procedure to monitor Voice mail ports

Open the RTMT application, it asks for the IP address of the system to monitor. Follow the below procedure to monitor the voice mail ports using RTMT:

1. Enter the Cisco Unity Connection Server IP address. Click the OK button.

2. Enter your application username and password in the authentication window.

3. A pop-up window appears asking you to select a configuration. At this time, only the default exists, so click OK.

4. The default configuration opens to the System Summary pane. This pane shows useful information about the server hardware and alerts.

7. From the Node drop-down menu (top center), select the IP address of your Cisco Unity Connection (CUC) Server.

8. Click the Start Polling button. The ports will show up in the Port Monitor pane. If you look at the Port column, you see two entries, one for the SCCP port and one for the SIP trunk. If necessary, move over the port name to see a tooltip with the full port name.

10. Press the Messages button on the second HQ phone. The SIP trunk should show the incoming call. The caller information shows the phone calling and the call reason is Direct. The Status columns show that the standard greeting is being played. Hang up before the message gets to the end.
