Hello!
I wanted to try to use N1K in both envirments: ESX and Hyper-V.
So I tried to install the VSM for Hyper-V as a virtual machine on an ESX Host. This might seem a bit strange, but in some envirments it could be usefull.
I wnated to keep the VSM separete from the Hyper-V host and I thought it should work also as an VM n ESX.
But I was not successfull. I I install the VSM for Hyper-V as a virutal machine on an Hyer-V Host everything is fine.
If I try to install the VSM for Hyper-V as a virtual machine on ESX the installation stops (even I did configure three network befor starting)
Pressing enter the VSM is in an (boot) shell.
It seems strange for me, since in principal a virtual machine should be a virtual machine, no matter if this is a VM on ESX or Hyper-V.
I wouder how this is used on the 1010? Is this not a ESX underneeth?
Not realy a problem, so I install the VSM on an Hyper-V host. But intresting.
Has anyone the same expericence?
Thanks a lot
Paul

Installing the HyperV VSM on ESX is fully supported. Did you give it 1 vCPU, 4 GB of memory, 4GB HDD, & 3 e1000 vNICs?
When the ISO boots did you choose the first option?
