Hello,

Can Cisco 2821 support site to site IPSEC VPNs and do I need extra licenses to configure and setup VPNs?

Further to what @Rob Ingram said - the 2821 is very old and way past end of support date:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/obsolete/routers/cisco-2821-integrated-services-router.html

That means the software is seriously out of date (which is why it won't support the latest and most secure algorithms) but will also be riddled with security vulnerabilities as a result.

That also means you won't be able to buy a security license for it to use VPN, so you'd have to get one that already had a security license installed.

You can get smaller Cisco ISR routers now which are just as powerful as 2821 was (or more) which will at least be up to date.

Thank you for this

@david.nwokoro1 yes it can support VPNs, but it will not support the latest (and most secure) algorithms.

You will need the Security license.
