Hi,

Is it possible to be able to Display extertna; Caller ID on a Cisco IP Phone i.e. Displaying a Name instead of the number.

Maybe this could be done by a lookup that Maps Name to known telephone numbers?

Many Thanks,

Ash

Hi Ash,

This is a Telco feature for the line. Basically, if a Facility IE is sent in the SETUP message containing CNID name characters,
it will discard them. The NAME associated with a particular NUMBER is kept in a database system on the SS7 network. If the
customer wishes to make sure that a certain name is sent based on what CLID they are sending out with the call, then they must
request that their telephone company make that change to the database for their DID numbers.

If you want them to map your company name to all the DIDs for your outbound calls, please request this from the Telco.

Teresa.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply Teresa. Sorry my description was probably a bit vague. What I want is say for example someone in our Company calls inbound into the Cisco systems from there company cell phone, the CLI is the cell phone number. The question is can this be a"friendly name" instead i.e. from and AD lookup  or some other list/database (that we could maintain). The mobile numbers are stored in Active Directory.

Woudl this "mapping still have to eb done at the telco" and if so will the Call Manger pick this up and display?

Thanks,

Ash

Hi Ash,

The name information for the cell phone will be sent from the PSTN side of the call.
If you have the Service Provider (Telco) sending you the information with the ISDN Facility IE Messaging & if you are using MGCP gateways you will be
able to see the incoming caller-id name.

Please refer to this TAC Case Collection:

For H.323 you can add the following command, but you will need to have an IOS that supports it. Please refer to the link below for more info:

conf t

voice service voip
  h323
  h225 display-ie ccm-compatible

We found a solution to this by having a TCL script on the gateway doing a lookup: http://www.ciscoxmlservices.com/en/tcl--ivr-scripts
