SNMP may return a SN that turns out (after back-end validation) to NOT be the actual chassis SN (it may have been a mid-plane, or other sub-component).
The CSPC retains the original / captured SN as 'Collected...', but stores the validat...
One note - be aware the demand.cisco.com/cspc link above references the Advanced Services - Network Optimization Service (NOS), which is a fee-based / subscription service.

Just for further explanation - why would loading pages after initial login / authentication be slowed down due to a missing ACS hostfile entry? This would imply that subsequent pages keep checking auth against the ACS server? I guess that's possibl...
