how do we set up a local sandbox for dev test purposes? Is it a separate download?

I have ioxclient running on my local system. I would like to test an iox app using the sandbox environment. However, I'm unable to figure out a way to have the sandbox setup installed on my local system.

Is it possible to have a local sandbox setup installed on the same host running ioxclient?

If yes, should we download sandbox separately?

Hi Venkatachalam,

What kind of applications are you going to develop and run? Are they for C819, CGR1000, or IR829? Are you referring to CAF?

Hi Steve,

I'm trying to get started with some basic apps mainly targeted for IR829.

I don't think I was referring to CAF. However, if you think CAF is the solution to what I need, I would be happy to go dig into it.

My understanding:

I test apps created for IR829 on my local host/environment if I did have a 'sandbox' running/set up on the same local host.

For instance, I have the ioxclient running on my localhost, which I could use to package my app created for IR829. When I try to use the ioxclient command line tool to test the created app on a 'sandbox' on the same host (as opposed to an actual IR829),

$ ./ioxclient li

Currently using profile :  default

Error processing command :  Get http://127.0.0.1:8443/api/v1/hosting/tokenservice: dial tcp 127.0.0.1:8443: connection refused

This is where, I believe I need the 'sandbox' installed and running on 127.0.0.1:8443, which is currently not.

If you think I'm trying to figure out a path which doesn't currently exist, feel free to redirect me in the correct direction.

Thank You.

Hi Venkatachalam,

You may refer to the internal wiki for CAF details. http://wikicentral.cisco.com/display/C3A/Running+CAF

Basically the CAF could be running on the PC as well. So that you may deploy the specific applications based on it accordingly.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you for the help. I'll check out CAF - looks like that could solve my needs.

This link seems to be dead, but I have the same question: Is it possible to create and test IOx applications in a local sandbox, without needing a physical device?

Hi Jeff,

Yes, the IOx-CAF (or IOx Sandbox) instance will allow you to do that.

You can find the latest dev OVA with the IOx-CAF instance here:
