vKVM application unable to launch

Hello,

we are performing a staging and firmware updates on a bunch of C220 M5 standalone servers delivered with CIMC 4.1(2a) loaded. After initial CIMC setup we are able to connect to CIMC GUI, all looking fine, however, we are unable to launch vKVM console.

Whenever the vKVM launch is attempted, separate windows is opened first, providing the notification that vKVM server certificate has been accepted together with the link for launching the application. After this link is followed, the new windov opens briefly saying "Connecting vKVM..." followed by the message "Client has been disconnected as a result of the network connection has been dropped".

The client PCs are placed in the same IP subnet like the CIMC, they are pingable from CIMC, we've tried even the direct cable connection between server OOB Mgmt interface and the client laptop - still getting the same result of not being able to launch the vKVM app.

Are there any known issues? Does it require any special browser security/certificate handling configuration? We have tried the most recent versions of both Chrome & MS Edge.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Marian

Hi,

just an update - problems with loading the vKVM app were tracked down to our corporate domain security policies and self-signed certificate issues when using Chrome based browsers (e.g. both Chrome & MS Edge). Firefox is our friend.

Sincerely,

Marian

Hi,

this issue is not related to Cisco solution itself - the root cause was a result of our corporate security policies disallowing self-signed certificates combined with Chrome and MS Edge browsers. The quick solution was using Firefox browser which would still prompt you whether you want to accept self-signed certificate for the session.

Sincerely,

Marian
